On November 7th, the choir program filled the EVHS theater with their beautiful voices during their first concert of the school year. Inside the theater’s lobby is a variety of people, all looking forward to the music-filled night ahead of them. Young underclassmen scurry around, excited for their first, and hopefully not their last, concert. Parents sit patiently, already proud of their young performers who will perform later that night. Soloists are nervous but ecstatic, and are ready to sing their heart out. And class of 2020, the seniors, are anticipating a magical night; their last first choir concert of their high school career.
The choir’s 2019 fall concert program followed the theme of “True Colors”, where each choir ensemble had a set that was composed of songs that are related to color. Many well-known songs were performed and several involved a soloist. The choir also had a designated soloist that sang an excerpt from “True Colors” by Cydni Lauper. These soloists were from the choir program’s Advanced Choirs, an ensemble that only certain choir students are a member of.
Not only did this concert showcase the exquisite voices of Evergreen Valley High School, but it also involved many talented musicians. Students from the band program also participated in the concert by playing the piano accompaniment for many songs that were performed that night. Likewise, one of the songs highlighted a guitar solo, performed by one of the choir members himself.
This was a special evening, and a fantastic presentation of the many talented singers of our school. If you’re interested in hearing them, come to their spring concert next semester! Admission is only $5 in exchange for a wonderful night full of beautiful music! By attending their concerts, you are already supporting the choir and helping out our EVHS community! Roar!
