As citizens are starting to get back on their feet after the unexpected pandemic, California has started sending out their much awaited second Golden State Stimulus checks. The first Golden State Stimulus checks came out earlier this year to qualifying individuals, each one roughly ranging from 600 dollars to 1200

dollars (FTB ).

In an attempt to aid low and middle income families along with people who have been financially challenged because of COVID-19 (FTB), California plans on sending out approximately 1.1 million more stimulus checks; all together, it is estimated that in the Golden State Stimulus II, the checks are worth a grand total of 857 million dollars (KTLA News ).

The second stimulus, which was initiated in late August, started arriving in batches with the most recent batch consisting of 750,000 checks.

To qualifying families, the next batch will be sent out on Monday, November 15 with checks typically ranging from 500 dollars to 1,100 dollars (Yahoo News). To help citizens calculate an accurate estimate on how much they can potentially receive in their second stimulus checks, the golden state has created a website. Depending on several factors including income, how long one has been a Californian citizen, and more. The website informs one how much money they are eligible to receive based on several factors (GSSI estimator). Some basic qualifications for the Golden State Stimulus II include that the household income must be under 75,000 dollars a year, have either a social security number (SSN) or an individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN) and cannot be claimed as dependent by another taxpayer (KTLA news ).

Governor Newsom's newest proposal, which is still under authorization, when combined with older relief programs and stimulus checks should aid and assist two thirds of the California population. Governor Newsom also notably made an effort to extend the Golden State Stimulus to California citizens who do not own a social security number, offering them the alternative of turning in an individual taxpayer identification number; he mentioned that this effort is mainly targeted towards immigrants who do not hold SSNs because the Golden State Stimulus should be inclusive of all citizens of the state. Additionally, the governor also put forth that the stimulus also includes an additional 500 dollars for families with children (LA Times ).
