As February begins, many anticipated school events are starting, and Junior Prom is the center of attention. The prom was on February 3rd, many Juniors celebrated the night with music, friends, and food. Junior Prom was at the Glasshouse in downtown San Jose from 7pm to 10pm. The venue was a beautiful glass house that was integrated with steel and glass paneling. Many students enjoyed taking pictures around the venue, especially at the photo booth. Junior prom is a very anticipated event and many students think so as well.
When students were asked what their favorite part was, one anonymous junior said that they “Enjoyed spending time with friends and dancing with them!”, While another anonymous student said, “ I enjoyed the chocolate fountain.” A few juniors that were interviewed mentioned disliking the food but, it seems like the chocolate fountain was a good addition. Another favorite a student said was “seeing everyone dressed.” She elaborated to say that all the dresses and suits worn to prom were super elegant and unique. Many students spent months planning their outfits for prom so they could get the perfect picture to look back on in another few years. The class of 2025 officers even made sure to create an Instagram account for dresses so that students could have a special moment with their unique dress without any repeats.
Now with all the good of prom, students also felt that some things could be improved. Many students mentioned that the game room was not very entertaining because of the small selection of games. When one student was asked what they would like to see in the game room next year, they said “Something more interactive that a larger group of people could
play.” Another improvement that many students agreed upon was food. One junior stated, “The food[pizza and pasta] wasn't very good…. It was pretty bland.”
A heavily talked about topic for prom is the price. With ticket prices ranging from $100 to $140, many people believe that prom is overpriced and not worth it, while others disagree. When asked about whether prom was worth the price, a student replied, “I think so, if you buy it early then it was worth it, but buying it later might not have been as worth it.” Many students agreed upon the fact that the earlier tickets were worth it, but the late ones were not. When another student was asked, they said, “I think it was pretty justified because it was a unique experience”
As students enjoyed themselves on a night of dancing and eating, it’s safe to say that junior prom was a popular event that many students enjoyed. There were some highs and lows, but in the end, prom is something juniors can look back on and enjoy.
